We will: Discuss terminology such as “street drugs” and “party drugs” and various drug names; Examine drug use; Learn how certain drugs work in our bodies, how they are taken, and specific risk reduction strategies.

Women-Specific Harm Reduction

[Dependent on facilitator availability] Half-full day (20-60 participants) Participants will gain a better understanding of the relationships between women, drug use and harm reduction. We will: Discuss women and their relationship to drug use; Examine women specific harm reduction strategies; Consider how stigma can create barriers to service for woman that use drugs.

Half-day (20-60 participants) Participants will gain a better understanding of the negative effects of stigma on people that use drugs; Reflect on how stigma and stereotypes are generated; Examine ways in which access to services can be affected; Consider ways to reduce stigma and improve the well-being of people that use drugs. Full-day (20-60 participants) aiming to increase participants’ understanding of substance use. We will: Think about the range of substances and reasons people may or may not use; Look at the continuum of use and the stages of change; Learn about different methods of administration and associated benefits and risks; Examine our own attitudes and values and briefly consider drug related stigma.
