  • When Grief Comes To Work: Managing Grief And Loss In The Workplace – A Handbook For Managers And Supervisors This training manual is comprehensive resource for managers and staff to support multiple levels of organizational response to the impact of grief on the workplace. ‘When Grief Comes to Work’ is a 220-page handbook to foster resiliency in the workplace through helping agencies develop appropriate and responsive policies.
  • When Grief Comes to Work: Bereavement and Resiliency Training for the Workplace Developed from the resource When Grief Comes to Work, ABRPO is currently offering a 3-part Bereavement and Resiliency Training Program to build concrete skills for individuals in positions to supporting ASOs and HIV impacted communities in responding to loss.   • The Ontario HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Initiative Website The Ontario HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Initiative (OHESI) is a provincial collaboration between agencies involved with HIV epidemiology and surveillance in the province. The website provides access to timely, relevant, comprehensive information about the epidemiology of HIV in Ontario.
  • The Basics of Grief and Multiple Loss Training This training provides a comprehensive synthesis of grief, multiple loss and transition theory in the context of HIV/AIDS. These accessible materials provide a solid orientation for ASO staff and volunteers and is also relevant for other agencies working with HIV infected or affected populations.   • Supporting Mothers in Ways That Work This is a toolkit for people who work with mothers living with HIV. It uses a social justice lens to build skills amongst front line workers. Content includes background information, information about perinatal care, breastfeeding, social surveillance, stigma, discrimination, and action steps.
  • Strategic Planning Support Facilitation and Support for a strategic planning process to help AIDS Service Organzations to identify strategic directions and initiatives; and establish a timeline and mechanisms to develop the appropriate implementation and accountability measures.
  • Staff Work Planning Facilitation of staff work planning and other planning processes to increase the capacity of ASO staff to initiate, manage and/or participate in the process of staff work planning. A work plan is a document that maps out the proposed steps for how a goal will be accomplished, including who will be involved and timelines.
  • Resilient Workers: Essential Tools for Support and Stability Training With the ongoing presence of grief/trauma in the lives of PHAs and Peers, both workers and peers are impacted by the human interactions which are part of fulfilling their roles.   • REACH Evaluation Toolkit The REACH Evaluation Toolkit is designed to direct you to useful tools and resources and to give you short, cursory look at evaluation or a long, detailed exploration on various evaluation topics.
  • Rapid Response Service The OHTN Rapid Response Service provides access to research evidence in response to questions from community-based HIV/AIDS organizations in Ontario to help support evidence-informed programs, service delivery and advocacy. We conduct searches of the scientific literature and contact experts in the appropriate fields to locate key information resources.
  • Rapid Response Index A full index of the over 100 Rapid Responses have completed on a variety of topics including services, programs and supports for people living with HIV.
  • Positive Women & Breastfeeding This is a resource about breastfeeding for HIV positive women and service providers.
  • OPRAH Online Toolkit The OPRAH online toolkit is a resource of HR-related resources covering a broad range of topics. Content areas include human resources, labour relations, human rights, benefits & compensation, health and safety, legislation. Labour relations is limited to those ASOs who are unionized.
  • OODP Strategic Planning Readiness Assessment Tool The OODP Strategic Planning Readiness Assessment Tool has been designed to assist ASOs to determine if they are ready to begin strategic planning before submitting a strategic planning consult request to the OODP.
  • OODP Staff Workplanning Guidelines and Template This document is intended for use by individual staff working in the HIV sector. It can also be used by a staff team. It is a planning tool to complement the other planning documents used by the organization, including the strategic plan and implementation plan.
  • OODP Risk Management Planning Toolkit This toolkit offers a systematic and thoughtful approach to help you to address the possible risks facing your organization. It provides a brief description of what risk management planning is, why you need to do it and offers tools to help you identify risks, determine your priorities and how/when best to respond.
  • OODP Partnership Agreement Toolkit The OODP Partnership Agreement Toolkit is a shortened version of the 2013 Partnership Agreement Resource. It focuses on 2 types of Partnership Agreements and offers a Template and sample text for each one.
  • OODP Partnership Agreement Template The OODP Partnership Agreement Template offers a generic template for completing partnership agreements between community-based organizations. Sample text for the different sections of the agreement has been provided.
  • OODP Partnership Agreement Resource The OODP Partnership Agreement Resource provides a comprehensive overview of all aspects that need to be considered in completing a formal partnership agreement with community partners. It discusses why agreements are needed, what types are available and what is involved in negotiating an Agreement. It provides a Partnership Agreement Template as well.

  • OODP Leading Change in ASOs Resource: A Resource for Executive Directors The goal of this resource is to increase the capacity of leaders in ASOs to effectively lead change in their organizations. It provides a framework for understanding change and practical strategies for implementation.
  • OODP HIV Disclosure Policy Toolkit This toolkit provides ASOs with an evidence-informed, comprehensive framework to assist in developing policies and practices that support people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) to control and navigate HIV disclosure decisions and actions. It provides a policy template for Boards and one for Operational Policy and Procedures with sample text included.
  • OODP ED Board Report Guidelines and Template The Executive Director’s (EDs) Board Report Template has been designed for regular reports to the Board of Directors. After reading the report, Board members should feel up to-date on relevant and strategic-level issues and prepared to raise issues, ask questions and make decisions at Board meetings.

  • OHTN Community-Based Research & Evaluation Fund The OHTN Community-Based Research & Evaluation Fund assists communities by supporting both the production and discovery of knowledge through community-based research, and the use of evidence to drive programming through participatory program evaluation. These guidelines describe funding program objectives, eligibility criteria, and instructions for applicants who wish to access these funds.
  • OCHART User Training Training for any staff member who reports through OCHART. Staff members call in and training is provided through screen share software. Training can be delivered one-on-one or to groups, and covers issues such as section-specific questions and new additions to OCHART. Session length depends on the amount of material covered.
  • OCASE In House Training Training for ASO staff on use of the OCASE tracking and case management tool. Training covers basic user level instruction, an overview of OCASE requirements, and a review of current staff practices with OCASE. Training is delivered in-house for up to three staff members and takes 60 – 90 minutes.

  • Human Resource Skills for Middle Managers HR skills training for middle managers, EDs and those responsible for HR activities for the agency. Topics include employment law, discipline and termination, performance management, human rights, introduction to OPRAH, etc. A total of 4 modules have been developed. Each session is 2 days in duration.
  • Human Resource Consultations Ongoing HR consultations with ASOs for generalist HR support and inquiries. Available through a service request form which is accessed from the OPRAH web page. A service request can only be submitted by Executive Directors or Board Chairs of ASOs.
  • HIV Disclosure Policy Development Webinar The OODP HIV Disclosure Policy Development Webinar was developed to assist ASOs to develop HIV Disclosure Policies for their organizations. The Webinar discusses why HIV Disclosure Policies are needed and outlines a process for ASOs to work collaboratively to ensure consistent practice in supporting client disclosure decisions across Ontario.
  • Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) Workshop A one-day workshop designed to enhance the capacity of AIDS service organizations and programs to achieve success in implementing GIPA. It offers organizations the opportunity to assess the effectiveness of their own GIPA policies and knowledge on how to implement effective GIPA strategies.
  • Governance Resources The OODP has created over 15 downloadable e-resources designed to support ASO volunteer Boards. Each resource contains a brief explanation of what it is and how to use it, and most include a template. For example there are templates for Board Agendas, Board Minutes, Board Member Job Descriptions, etc. There are also Board Policy samples.
  • GMSH Skills Building Symposium The GMSH Skills Building Symposium is a conference focused on GBMSM health, HIV prevention and sexual health promotion. These summits bring together Ontario’s ASO leadership and gay men’s programs to engage in research, programming strategies, and good practices in sexual health work with GBMSM. This event is by invite only.
  • Facilitation and Support for Group Processes Facilitation of group processes and/or discussions leading to resolution of issues, development of partnership agreements, etc. Groups often include an AIDS Service Organization and community partners.
  • Executive Director/Board Chair Skills Building Workshop This 2 day workshop focuses on topics that are relevant to Executive Directors and Board Chairs.   • Executive Director Symposium Formerly known as the ED Retreat, this 2 day workshop focuses on topics and skills building that are relevant to Executive Directors of ASOs. If there are hot button issues to discuss such as funding then this is the place it happens. Skills building sessions usually focus on human resources or organizational development.
  • Executive Director Roles and Responsibilities Coaching Regular one-on-one coaching sessions that cover a range of issues related to the ED’s role and responsibilities for a period of up to one year. Coaching sessions can take place in-person or by skype or phone.
  • Evaluation Training OHTN provides training and individualized support to agency staff so that they can evaluate their own programs and services. This support includes one-on-one consultation (to develop an evaluation plan), revision of any existing tools and data collection practices and the creation of new evaluation tools, if required.
  • Change Leadership Coaching Regular one-on-one coaching sessions designed to support Executive Directors and/or Board Chairs to work strategically to lead transformative change within their organizations. Coaching sessions can take place in-person or by Skype or telephone.
  • Boundaries Workshop A one-day workshop designed to enhance the capacity of AIDS service organizations and programs to respond to organizational issues related to boundaries. The workshop material can be customized separately for groups of staff or board members or volunteers.
  • Board Work Planning Facilitation of board work planning and other planning processes to increase the capacity of ASO Board members to initiate, manage and/or participate in the process of board work planning. Boards often choose to do this exercise following a Governance workshop.
  • Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression (ARAO) 2-Day Workshop A two-day inter-active workshop designed to enhance an organization’s ability to respond effectively to the diverse needs and identities of its internal human resources and the participants who use its services.
  • Annual WHAI Symposium This annual forum is aimed at bringing WHAI Coordinators and the management teams at their respective agencies together to share information about existing work, collaborate on emerging issues, learn, and build province-wide connections.
